Safe Space

Safe Space indicates a teacher, educational institution, office, class, or student body does not tolerate anti-LGBTQ violence, harassment or hate speech. By receiving certifications and trainings this creates a safe place for all LGBTQ students.  The Office of Student Life staff, all Associated Students of Napa Valley College (ASNVC) board members, and commissioners of the board receive Safe Space training.  

Napa Valley College is committed to providing a campus environment that is a safe place for all students to learn and for staff to work.  As a college community, we value inclusivity and respect for others. The goal of our program is to create a safe environment in all corners of the campus in order to promote student success throughout all of the programs offered by the college.

Suicide Prevention

The mission of QPR is to save lives and decrease suicidal tendencies by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training. QPR is an abbreviation for Question, Persuade, and Refer.  This training teaches student leaders to identify and interrupt the crisis and direct a person to the proper care. The Office of Student Life staff, all Associated Students of Napa Valley College (ASNVC) board members, and commissioners of the board receive Safe Space training.  

One Love Foundation

One Love Foundation is devoted to eliminating relationship abuse by providing education, empowerment, and motivation to activate campus communities. Associated Students of Napa Valley College host One Love workshops to provide guidance designed towards assisting students recognize warning signs of abuse, abusive behaviors and actions. ASNVC also provides resources to assist individuals experiencing abuse. The Office of Student Life staff, all Associated Students of Napa Valley College (ASNVC) board members, and commissioners of the board receive Safe Space training.

Food Handlers

The California Food Handler Card law is designed to ensure people receive a reasonable level of training in food safety practices to reduce the potential for foodborne illness.  The Office of Student Life staff, all Associated Students of Napa Valley College (ASNVC) board members, and commissioners of the board receive Food Handlers, ServSafe training.  Students are eligible to participate in this training free of charge, stop by the Office of Student Life/ASNVC in building 1300, room 1342.
