STUDENT RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Welcome! As a student at Napa Valley College, you have many rights and responsibilities provided by our college policies. These policies protect you and the college, and failure to adhere to these can result in academic consequences. Please read and be informed.

STUDENT CONDUCT

Dr. Alejandro Guerrero, Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Affairs (chief student services officer) oversees student discipline.

Student Conduct Policies and Administrative Procedures

BP 5500 outlines the Superintendent/President's right and responsibility in establishing procedures for the imposition of discipline on students in accordance with the requirements for due process of the federal and state law and regulations.

BP 5505 defines academic honesty, what constitutes academic dishonesty, and lists the consequences of academic dishonesty.

AP 5500 provides a list of the types of conduct that could be good cause for discipline. Students shall be expected to obey all local, state, and federal laws and such campus regulations as prescribed for the effective operation of Napa Valley College.

AP 5520 provides uniform procedures to assure due process when a student (a) is charged with a violation of these standards, or (b) wishes to resolve specific concerns in an expeditious and fair manner. All proceedings held in accordance with these procedures shall relate specifically to an alleged violation of the established Standards of Student Conduct.

AP 5530 provides a prompt and equitable means of resolving student grievances. These procedures shall be available to any student who reasonably believes a college decision or action has adversely affected his/her status, rights, or privileges as a student.
