BIO

Cindy Stanphill has 17 years of experience in teaching and working within the community college system and has been with Napa Valley College for 4 years. At Long Beach City College, she worked on the Italian SLO committee and co-created and introduced the a new course sequence of Italian for Spanish Speakers. She also taught at Cypress College, American River College, Folsom Lake College, Sierra and Cosumnes River College. She worked as the Managing Editor of California Italian Studies Journal, directed by the UC Regents office for two years. She holds a BA and MA in English Language, Literature, and Creative Writing from California State University, Long Beach and a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her unique experiences at both the community college level and university have given her a wide range of experiences. Both in and out of the classroom, Cindy focuses on professional and personal development, social justice, and creating space for and celebrating cultural differences.
