Master of Arts in English from Sonoma State University
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Minor in English) from University of California, Santa Barbara
I teach English at NVC full-time. In addition to teaching, I am the Coordinator of the Writing Success Center, Chair of the Academic Senate Student Success Standards Committee, and Secretary of the NVC Faculty Association. Additionally, I am currently serving as Secretary on the board of the Northern California Writing Centers Association. I have been teaching at NVC since 2018, but have been teaching college English as a profession since 2013. Teaching at NVC has been, and continues to be, an absolute dream come true for me, and I have especially loved the opportunity to work closely with the Writing Success Center and be a part of its wonderful staff. The students of NVC are vibrant and diverse, and I cherish every day that I get to work with them: I especially love getting the chance to teach and work 1-on-1 with students on their writing. The trust that students place in me to help them with their writing process is a true privilege that I never take for granted.
On my way to becoming a full-time educator, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara (Minor in English), then earned both a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and Multiple Subjects Credential at CSU, Chico, and finally earned a Master of Arts in English from Sonoma State University. I specialize in teaching all forms of writing, critical thinking, and rhetorical study, with a focus on the use of technology and online media, as well as the philosophy and management of writing centers. As for interests, I love teaching about technology and media, human rights and social movements, and science fiction and fantasy literature. The personal hobby I love most is doing anything with my wife and two children (with one on the way!). I also love literature, media, art in all its forms, and baseball.
