Storm made the most of their 20-game season

In a shortened 20-game season, there were all kinds of highlights for this year’s Napa Valley College baseball team, which went 12-8 — both overall and in the Bay Valley Conference.

Dr. Patricia van Leeuwaarde Moonsammy has been named senior director, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at Napa Valley College, announced Dr. Ron Kraft, superintendent/president after the board of trustees approved her contract at its May 13 meeting. Dr. van Leeuwaarde Moonsammy will start her new post effective June 1, 2021.

Napa Valley College Announces Food & Wine Enthusiast Classes for Summer 2021

Napa Valley College will continue to offer its Food & Wine Enthusiast classes in-person this summer with limited enrollment. Classes will all take place at the Napa Valley College Upper Valley Campus, Belle Rhodes Teaching Kitchen in St. Helena and pre-registration is required and limited to two-person “pods” to limit the number of households participating.

Arturo Macias Franco beat all odds to achieve his education. Growing up in Torreon Coahuila, Mexico, listening to stories about his grandfather’s ranch and animals, he was drawn towards a life in agriculture and veterinary science, and wanted to be a veterinarian.

Napa Valley College awards first LGBT Studies degrees

Midday on Saturday, May 29, hundreds of students will participate in a “drive-thru” ceremony at Napa Valley College (NVC) with their families, to pick up their diploma cover and take photos marking the moment they receive their degrees and certificates. Among them, for the first time ever, will be two students who have earned associate of science degrees in LGBT education.
