Napa Valley College graduation features State Sen. Bill Dodd
(NAPA, Calif.) – Napa Valley College is holding its 81st commencement ceremony from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 23, at Memorial Stadium. The keynote speaker is State Sen. Bill Dodd.
The college is awarding more than 880 degrees and certificates to over 530 students, including degrees to transfer to other colleges and universities. It also includes degrees associated with Career Technical Education programs. Half of the graduates are receiving multiple awards.
NVC is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in the California community college system. Half of the graduates identify as Latinx/Hispanic. In addition, at least 28% of graduates are among the first in their families to receive a college degree. Women account for 63% of the 2023-2024 graduating class.
Among the graduation speakers will be co-valedictorians Vienna Spezza, who is graduating with an Associate of Arts degree in Theater Arts; and Agatha Ramos Maher, who is earning an Associate of Science degree in Natural Sciences. Both students have 4.0 GPAs.
Senator Dodd represents the 3rd Senate District, which includes all or portions of Napa, Yolo, Sonoma, Solano, Sacramento and Contra Costa counties.
Napa Valley College is among the few California community colleges that will offer
on-campus student housing, beginning in August, at a community called River Trail
Village.
