Napa Valley College Receives Kaiser Permanente Wellness Award
Napa Valley College is the 2019 Northern California recipient of the silver Wellness Award from Kaiser Permanente. The award recognizes the College for its contributions to support its employees to live a healthier life.
The Kaiser Permanente Wellness Award was established in 2017 to recognize agencies that have committed to workplace wellness. There are over 1,200 agencies who purchase their benefits through CalPERS that are eligible to receive this award. Each year, Kaiser Permanente selects six winners from Northern California and six winners from Southern California.
“It has truly been my honor to work with Napa Valley College and Isabel Mostafanejad over the past five years,” said Cris Christensen, CalPERS territory account manager at Kaiser Permanente. “Napa Valley College really ‘gets’ wellness and how it can make an impact on the lives of their employees,” she added. In a note to Isabel Mostafanejad, Napa Valley College health benefits officer, Christensen wrote, “You make it look easy even when I know it is not always the case. On behalf of Kaiser Permanente thank you for a job well done! I look forward to our continued partnership!”
“I am extremely honored that the Napa Valley Community College District has been recognized and is receiving the Kaiser Permanente Wellness award,” said Mostafanejad. “Corporate health and wellness have been a long-time passion of mine. With so much of our lives spent at work, I am a firm believer that we need to take care of our hearts, bodies and minds to be the best versions of ourselves. I have been very fortunate to have the support and opportunity to incorporate wellness into my existing role and leverage existing resources as a health benefits officer to support the program at NVC.”
Napa Valley College’s 2019 wellness activities included Spring into Motion, Well Traveled, Walktober, Maintain Don’t Gain, PAC and back (or back to the PAC), flu shot clinics and monthly wellness topics.
“I sincerely thank everyone who participated in NVC’s wellness activities and events. Your involvement made it possible to be recognized, and we can proudly hold up this award as a mark of achievement,” said Mostafanejad. “I am committed to continuing wellness initiatives and Napa Valley College and look forward to achieving more such awards.”
