New Bus Service to Fairfield/Suisun Starts July 1st
Napa, CA – VINE Transit will launch its new Route 21 express service between Napa and Fairfield/Suisun on July 1st, 2013. The intercity bus route is designed to serve commuters and college students and will operate seven round trips each weekday between 5:27 AM and 7:30 PM making stops at the Suisun City Train Depot, Fairfield Transit Center, Highway 12/29 Gateway Junction, Napa Valley College, and Downtown Napa. The route connects to the Capital Corridor rail service.
"This is a great way to save on gas, avoid the stress of driving, and improve the environment," said Kate Miller, Executive Director of Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency (NCTPA), the agency responsible for transportation planning and services in the Napa Valley. According to Tom Roberts, NCTPA Manager of Public Transit "the route is being implemented in response to a number of requests to link Napa with Solano County and our transit services." "The project is another effort by NCTPA and Solano Transportation Authority (STA) to ensure that the counties are not only connected by highways but also by transit," Roberts stated. The service is being funded by the Federal Transit Administration, Solano Transportation Authority and the Napa County Transportation and Planning Agency.
