Napa Valley College trustees have approved the interim placement of Mechele Manno as the Dean of Arts and Humanities (ARAH). Mechele, who currently serves at the Associate Dean for the Upper Valley Campus, will be on leave from that position to assume her new, interim role in ARAH. This interim appointment is through fall 2018.
Mechele earned her Master of Fine Arts with a specialization in video performance art from California College of the Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute.
Prior to her appointment as Associate Dean of the UVC (Napa Valley College), she was Director of Graduate Studies at Moore College of Art and Design, Communications Manager at Loyola Marymount University, Assistant Dean, College of Design at Freemont College and Associate Director of Admissions at San Francisco Art Institute.
Mechele is also an active member of the Arts Council of Napa Valley, serving on the Board of Directors since 2015.
"I am confident that she will provide supportive, responsive leadership for ARAH and serve as a strong advocate for its programs with the administration," said Eric Shearer, Interim Vice President of Instruction. "I have been working with her to prepare for this transition and will be handing the reins over to her fully in the coming week. I will continue to work with her as she transitions into this new role in the coming months.
"I am confident in the skills, experience, and qualifications Mechele brings to this position and look forward to working with her and my former Division. Please join me in congratulating Mechele as she embarks on this new adventure."
Her new office will be on the south side of campus in room 4106, the office suite formerly used as the office for the Technical Division.
