May Jong, an artist and educator from Los Angeles, has been selected to join the Visual Arts program in Studio Art, beginning in fall 2017.
She has taught at Glendale College, Cypress College, Otis College of Art and Design and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. She has exhibited at the Center for Book Arts in New York, NY, Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, CA, and Mainframe Gallery in Seattle, WA.
Recent works include a book project for Side Street Projects with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Pasadena Arts Alliance and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Department, and a sculptural family guide for Hauser Wirth & Schimmel in Los Angeles. Her mixed media, interdisciplinary works are often interactive and collaborative.
"May will be a wonderful addition to the NVC faculty when she arrives on campus in August," said Dr. Cathryn Wilkinson, Dean, Arts and Humanities.
"I would especially like to thank the search committee for their hard work, time, and energy: Amanda Badgett, John Dotta, Rhue Bruggeman, Stephanie Grohs, Marian Wouters, and Rafael Manzo, and our EEO representative, Ann Gross. Also, thank you to the Human Resources staff for great support and attention to all of our needs," she said.
