Michigan native Joseph Latunski has been hired at Napa Valley College to manage the financial books as Controller.
His physician wife, assistant professor Kim Pfotenhauer, teaches at the Tuoro University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Together, they live in Napa with their six-year old son Kaleb, who is a T-Ball and hockey enthusiast.
Latunski attended Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting, and Saginaw Valley State Univeristy, where he earned a master's degree in business administration.
He moved with his wife to Southeastern Ohio before the couple moved to Napa two years ago. Latunski was a stay-at-home dad for three years, until Kaleb was 5.
"The role reversal was an experience I feel both parents should try to do," he said.
Prior to taking the college job, he worked two years in Napa at Syar Industries, Inc., as Accounting Manager. He said he left to take the Controller job at the college partly to share the same academic calendar as his wife.
"Napa Valley College is where I want to be at this point in my career," he said. "The Controller here works together with administrative groups to establish budgets."
Latunski, who is a certified public accountant, said he is also looking forward to serving the community as a new member of the Cope Family Center Board of Directors.
Latunski replaces Glenna Aguada, who retired as Controller earlier this year.
