9TH ANNUAL NAPA VALLEY COLLEGE STORM CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT - OCT. 17, 10 A.M.
Early-bird registration discounts available until Sept. 19 for tournament benefiting NVC Storm athletic teams

Napa, Calif. (Sept. 8, 2014) – Supporters of Napa Valley College student-athletes have the opportunity to enjoy a day of golf while raising funds for the college’s athletic teams at the 9th Annual Storm Classic Golf Tournament, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Chardonnay Golf Club, 2555 Jameson Canyon Road, in American Canyon.

Approximately 75% of all Napa Valley College student-athletes participating in organized Storm athletic teams successfully transfer to four-year degree-granting institutions each year. The tournament supports the 120 Napa Valley College student-athletes competing in Storm Bay Valley Conference teams in 2014-2015, with proceeds going toward team travel expenses, sports equipment upgrades, and stipends for assistant coaches.

"The funds raised from the Storm Classic Tournament are vital to the success of our teams and our players," said Napa Valley College Athletics Director Bob Harris. "The tournament is a wonderful opportunity to show support for our dedicated athletes. It is a day that promises to be great fun, provide wonderful camaraderie, and the opportunity to play on the Chardonnay Course, which is in great condition."

The tournament shotgun start is at 10 a.m., with breakfast and range balls for drive practice available starting at 8:30 a.m. The main format will be a scramble, with men’s, women’s and mixed team divisions.  Players can also opt to register for a two best-net ball of the foursome format (90% of handicap) for players with an established handicap/index, to be provided at registration, with separate men’s and women’s or mixed divisions to be provided depending on the number of entrants.

Early-bird tournament registration by Sept. 19 costs $175 per person or $600 for a foursome, and includes range balls, a shared golf cart, tee prizes, greens fees, and breakfast and lunch on the course. Also included is an early dinner with wine and a silent auction starting after tournament play around 4 p.m.  at the Chardonnay clubhouse.

Guests and Storm supporters may opt to attend the dinner and auction only for a cost of $40. Sponsorships for individuals and businesses ranging from $125 to $2,000 are also available, including the opportunity to sponsor a student golfer for $175. Registration fees and direct donations to the Napa Valley College Athletics Department can be designated for specific teams if desired.

After the early-bird deadline, registration costs $200 per person or $700 for a foursome. Entries close Oct. 10, 2014, or when 144 players have signed up.
