Napa Valley College recognized for improving employment, wages

Multiple career education programs at Napa Valley College have been named as Strong Workforce Stars because they increase employment and wages, according to the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.

State recognition is awarded to programs with data that demonstrate:

-          An increase in earnings by 50 percent or more, based on a match to the state wage file, for students who were last enrolled in 2015-16.

-          Attainment of the regional living wage by 70 percent or more, based on a match to the state wage file, for students who were last enrolled in 2015-16.

-          90% or more are employed in a job similar to their field of study, according to the CTE Outcomes Survey, for students who were last enrolled in 2014-15.

Silver Stars, earned by programs that attained threshold outcomes on two metrics, were attained at Napa Valley College by:

·         Psychiatric Technician: 329 percent increase in earnings and 85 percent of students attained the regional living wage.

·         Law Enforcement: 83 percent increase in earnings and 86 percent of students attained the regional living wage.

·         EMT-P: Paramedic: 75 percent increase in earnings and 82 percent of students attained the regional living wage.

·         Nursing: 57 percent increase in earnings and 75 percent of students attained the regional living wage

           Bronze Stars, earned by programs that attained threshold outcomes on one metric, were attained at NVC by:

·         Viticulture, Enology, and Wine Business: 72 percent of students attained the regional living wage.

·         Child Development-Early Care and Education: 100 percent of students are employed in a job similar to their field of study.

·         Administration of Justice: 93 percent increase in earnings.
