Cash for College Financial Aid Workshop February 23

NAPA, CA, FEBRUARY 15, 2019 –  Napa Valley College is hosting a free financial aid workshop on Saturday, February 23, from 10 am to 2 pm in the McCarthy Library, Building 1700, at Napa Valley College. The workshop is for high school seniors and current Napa Valley College students, as well as anyone who is considering attending college and would like to apply for available financial resources for education.

Every year during the financial aid application season, Napa Valley College partners with Travis Credit Union to assist students and their families to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), California Dream Act Application and Chafee Grant Application to access thousands of dollars in financial aid resources. The deadline to apply for Cal Grants and most other types of financial aid for California Colleges is March 2, 2019. Cash for College, also known as Super Saturday, is the culmination of a series of free workshops offered onsite at Napa County high schools to students, beginning in the fall.

The Cash for College workshop will include open computer labs staffed by trained financial and professionals to assist students and parents in completing and submitting the 2019-2020 FAFSA or CA Dream Act Applications online. The event will also include presentations in English and Spanish, foster youth and scholarship information and veterans' assistance, and College counselors will be on-hand to provide additional support and guidance. Light refreshments will be provided. Students who attend the workshop and complete a workshop evaluation form will be entered into a drawing to win a new laptop computer. In addition, a drawing for a Fire Tablet will be held for participants in the workshop.

The goal of Cash for College is to help low-income and first generation college-goers complete the application process so they can access financial aid for education and career/technical training beyond high school. Cash for College increases college access and success by informing, assisting and rewarding program participants. The program is made possible with the support of Travis Credit Union.
