ALERT: FINANICAL AID SCAM-
Students are receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be from the Federal Grant Washington DC Verification Department, stating that several thousands of dollars was waiting to be paid, but the student would need to provide their banking information, credit or debit card information, or to purchase a "cash" or "iTunes" card which they would then have to take to Western Union and call back for more instructions. This is a scam to gain access to your bank accounts or money in the form of cash cards. Your COLLEGE is the only one authorized to pay federal grant money to you! You will NEVER receive a phone call from the U.S. Department of Education, Pell Grant program, or any other Federal or State grant program asking you to provide your bank account information over the phone. If you receive a phone call asking you to provide your bank account, credit or debit card, or checking/savings account numbers, HANG UP…It's a SCAM.
If you have questions about grant and loan money for college, please contact the Financial Aid/EOPS Office, Building 1100, Room 1132 in person, by phone at (707) 256-7300, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also check your financial aid awards online through WebAdvisor.
